Career Record with Cradley

|1993 was Anthony Boyd's big break in Heathens colours. After serving his Dudley Wood apprenticeship in the junior team, he was given the nod to fill the new number eight berth, created by the introduction of the one-season wonder 18 heat formula.|
Unfortunately, it was another year of the Cradley 'injury jinx' and Boyd was not to escape it. He managed a decent run of matches in the team until June of that season and, on his way gave good enough performances to gain due praise and recognition from team manager Colin Pratt. However, it was later that month that he crashed while practising at Long Eaton, and sustained a foot injury which would rule him out for several weeks. His place was taken by Justin Walker and Boydie was never to regain the reserve berth.
It was an unlucky sequence of events that ruined the year for Boyd, who was only 22 at the time. Despite being relied upon at other times when injuries mounted - both before '93 and after - the rest of his Cradley career was spent trying in vain to make the breakthrough from the junior team. Eventually, he was to give up and retired from the sport for good within a couple of years.
Anthony is still very much involved with the Heathens, readily helping out the younger riders in the pits on race nights.
Always ready to be part of the Heathens Supporters Club events too.
