Profile...

Bill Coleman was one of the riders to come out of the winter training schools run at Dudley Wood following their successful 'Pirate', meeting in 1959. These were run to try and provide a team for the Provincial League in 1960.
He showed some promise and went into the 1960 Provincial League team.  On his Dudley Wood debut he scored 7 points against Rayleigh in April.  His best score for the Heathens was 8 from 4 rides against Poole in May.
On the 28th May Bill crashed at Dudley Wood and broke his leg and smashed his kneecap when he spectacularly went over the safety fence on the first bend and onto the greyhound track.  He did make a short comeback in 1961 but crashed again at Monmore Green and sustained head injuries which finished his career.
