Despite spending two seasons at Cradley Don never lived up to the promise of
his home town track in Adelaide.
He made his debut for the Heathens at Norwich in July 1951 and scored one point, his highest score that season was four points against Halifax.
Don was retained by the Heathens in 1952 but again he failed to make the grade.
In 1952 he was transferred to St Austell on loan for the rest of the season, he fared a little better with an average of 3.68 from eleven matches.
Don stayed in Adelaide after 1952 and rode for many years where he gained an International cap in 1958 / 59 and again in the 1968 / 69 series against England.
