Profile...

Tommy was Cradley's first Swedish rider, he was recommended by Olle Nygren, he was currently staying in Norwich from his home track Taxarna. He had a couple of outings with the Heathens filling the gap left by Ivor Hughes and earned a recall in 1967.
He started badly however ending up in hospital with two broken bones in his foot in the first match at Wolverhampton.  He returned at the end of April and put together some useful scores however he was again injured against Long Eaton in mid August, this time with a broken collar-bone which ended his season.
He was recalled fully fit in 1968 but on April 26th at Glasgow he crashed out with two cracked ribs.
Tough as nails Tommy was back within 4 weeks strapped up and in pain and on the 8th June fell again this time injuring his hand.  Then on the 24th June took another tumble this time at Newcastle where he broke four bones in his foot.
British Speedway had not been kind to Tommy Bergqvist and he returned to Sweden.
