Bill started his career at the Bristol training school in April 1947 which was run by Tiger Stevenson.  He made his debut for the Bulldogs in July that year but was only given one more outing.
Losing his place to Johnny Hole after one match at Bristol Bill made the move to Cradley Heath in Div3 for the start of their 1948 season.  He was an immediate hit, scoring 11 points on his debut at Dudley Wood against Plymouth, he went on to score double figures a further four times in a month but his scores tailed off slightly but still finished with an average of almost six points from League matches.
He stayed with the Heathens on their move to Div 2 in 1949 and went on for a further two years being a solid second string or reserve throughout his Cradley career.

Bill lost his place in the side in September 1951 and joined Southampton in 1952 but retired after their two opening fixtures against Cardiff.

Unfortunately Bill sadly passed away on the 18th March 2013, he died following a knee operation at the grand old age of 91!

His two sons came over from Australia for his funeral which was on 28th March 2013. He was buried at the Baptist Church in Southwick, Wiltshire.
