Provincial League winners medal 1963 (Wolves)


Cyril, popular Welshman from Newport started his speedway career at Bristol in 1960. When Monmore Green opened in 1961 in the Provincial League Cyril was glad to find himself in the team. He stayed with the Wolves for six years, his best season in 1964 ended with an average of 7.29.  He moved to his home town club Newport in 1967 and had another full season with the Wasps in 1968. In 1969 he went back to Wolves for 7 matches but his scores started to decline and he went back again to Newport for the rest of the season. He stayed with the Wasps again for the start of 1970 but after 6 matches was dropped from the team.
Cradley gave Cyril a trial in 1971 but failed to regain his form scoring 1 point from 4 rides at Poole on his debut on 22nd September and 1 point from 2 rides at Oxford on 30th September he failed to score at Dudley Wood in his two meetings.

Cyril went Ellesmere Port in 1972 and improved his average with 5.66 from 17 matches, he finished his speedway career at Stoke in 1973 with an average of 5.11 from 14 matches.
