Gareth, from Cadishead, Salford, Manchester, started his speedway career with Stoke Spitfires in 2005 and stayed with the club in 2006 and 2007 before moving to Buxton in 2008.
He was voted Rider of the Year at Buxton in 2008 and returned as captain in 2009 but at the end of the season announced his retirement.
After giving it some thought decided to return in 2010 and signed for Scunthorpe.  It was short lived however and lost his place in April and was without a team place for the rest of the season.
In 2011 he returned to Stoke but a crash in the Play-Off Final against Mildenhall left him with two broken vertebrae. This injury kept him out of the saddle for the first half of 2012, Gareth returned in September for four matches at Mildenhall.
He scored well in these meetings and was offered the final place in Dudley's side for 2013.
A good steady second string throughout the season with a couple of double figure scores in May / June with 12+2 bonus from 5 rides.
He ended the season with an average of almost 5 points per match from Dudley's most successful side.
