Started racing speedway at Plymouth 2008 after some years doing motor cross and grasstrack.
James had some success at Plymouth and was snapped up by Weymouth in 2009, he had a full season with the Wildcats progressing all the way and promoter Phil Bartlett wanted him back in 2010, however with the offer of a place with his local club Newport and some sponsorship on offer too James wanted to leave.
He started at reserve for the Hornets with Newport looking like title contenders, he was an ever present for the Hornets except for missing one match in September after he crashed at Rye House and received concussion. The Hornets retained James's services form the 2011 season and once again he was an ever-present in the side, remaining at reserve for most of the season.
When Newport decided not to enter a team in the National League in 2012 Dudley snapped up the very fast starting White-Williams.
James arrived on a 4.53 average increasing this to around 5.5 at the end of the season.  James's best scores were against Kings Lynn at Monmore 'Wood' with 9+2 from 5 rides in May and at the Isle of Wight with 9+1 from 4 rides in July.
James decided that when he was not required by the Heathens in 2013 that he would return to his first love of MotorX.
