Ryan has had an interest in motorbikes since he was 13 doing trials then motorcross and enduro first then winning the Northern Enduro Championship in 2015. In November he was tempted to try speedway at the Andy Meredith training school at Scunthorpe.  He loved it and went out and bought himself a bike. From then he was out practicing all the spare time he had.
He was spotted at the Scunthorpe training track by Steve Wignall who recommended him to Buxton promoter Jayne Moss.  He was quickly signed up and spent his first season 2016 with the Hitmen.
2016 saw Cradley come knocking offering Ryan a contract to ride for the Heathens. He started at a steady pace then collected 7 paid eight against Mildenhall in the middle of April. Following this with an 8 paid 10 from 6 rides against Lakeside in May. Back at his old track Buxton he picked up another 7 then 7 against Kent at Monmore Green.
Then on the 25th June he guested for the Championship team Scunthorpe and broke his collar bone. Unfortunately this ended Ryans season with the Heathens.
Cradley co-promoter Gary Patchett named Ryan as his rider of the year saying, "he was a huge figure in the pits, 100% committed, spent every bit of spare cash he had on his equipment, we couldn't fault him for his attitude, on and off the track".
